Raoul Peck
Sir Raoul Peck is an acclaimed film writer-director currently living and working between Haiti, France and the US. Raoul attended film school at the esteemed Berlin Film and Television Academy, where he received his M.F.A in 1988. Raoul’s work has been celebrated with scores of honors and awards recognizing the urgency and excellence of his vital contributions to the Haitian cinema. His critically acclaimed Lumumba: Death of a Prophet (1992) and The Man By The Shore (1993) have been screened in film-festivals across the globe. In 2001, Raoul was the recipient of The Irene Diamond Lifetime Achievement Award from The Human Rights Watch Organization. He was also awarded with the Nestor Alemendros Award in 1994.

A former minister of culture to Haiti, Raoul has been named a Knight of both The Honor and Merit Order (Haiti), and The Arts and Literature Order (Haiti). He is also a prominent member of French Authors/Directors/Producers Guild, the DGA, and the WGAeast. In addition, he is the president of Velvet Film, Inc. and the president and founder of The Forum El Dorado Foundation in Haiti. Raoul has held faculty positions at New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts, the France National Film School, and The Berlin Film and Television Academy.
